QIDI Plus5 Review: A 370°C Hotend That Actually Prints PPS-CF and High-Temp Nylon

You know the situation: a roll of PAHT-CF or PPS-CF sitting in the box, and a printer that tops out at 300°C with no heated chamber. The first layer warps, the part delaminates, and the nozzle clogs before you get one finished piece. High-temp engineering filament needs hardware that can actually handle it — and most hobby machines can't.

What the Plus5 Combo Actually Brings

The headline number is the 370°C hotend. That's past the melting point of PPS-CF and PAHT-CF, so you're not running the nozzle at its limit just to get nylon to flow. The 65°C actively heated chamber does the real work: it keeps the part above its glass transition temperature while printing, which is what stops carbon nylon from lifting off the plate and splitting between layers.

The Combo version adds a multi-color unit, so you get high-temp capability and filament changes in one machine. If you've been running a rigged-up enclosure and a hotend that can't hold 350°C, this is a direct upgrade.

High-Temp Filaments It Actually Handles

We've run carbon nylons on the Plus5 with real settings, not manufacturer hand-waving. PA12-CF prints clean at a 290°C nozzle and a 100°C bed on a textured PEI plate. PAHT-CF needs a bit more — 300°C hotend, 110°C bed, and a chamber that's been soaking at 60°C for fifteen minutes before the first layer goes down. Keep the spool in a dryer while it prints; nylon drinks moisture, and wet PAHT-CF will string and weaken no matter what machine it's on.

PPS-CF is where this printer earns its keep. Most machines physically can't reach the nozzle and chamber temps PPS needs. On the Plus5 it's a matter of tuning, not a hardware gamble.
