K2 Plus vs QIDI Plus5: Which High-Temp Carbon Nylon Printer Should You Buy?

You've got the budget for one serious printer, and two names keep coming up: the Creality K2 Plus and the QIDI Plus5. Both are big enclosed machines that claim carbon fiber nylon. Both cost real money. And the marketing pages make them sound identical. They're not. We've run both on the bench — here's where they actually split, and which one to buy.

What Each Machine Actually Brings

The K2 Plus gives you a 350 x 350 x 350 mm enclosed CoreXY frame, a 350°C all-metal hotend, a 120°C bed, and a chamber that holds around 60°C. It runs Klipper out of the box, ships with a hardened steel nozzle, and the CFS filament system feeds up to 16 spools across four units.

The QIDI Plus5 Combo answers with a 370°C hotend and a 65°C actively heated chamber, plus a multi-color unit. That extra 20°C on the hotend doesn't look like much on paper. It matters more than any other number on the sheet.

The 20 Degrees That Decide It

350°C is plenty for PA12-CF, PA6-CF, PPA-CF, and PAHT-CF. We've printed all of them on both machines. But PPS-CF needs more — most PPS grades want 360°C and up, and the K2 sits right at its ceiling. The Plus5 has real headroom at 370°C, which is why it handles PPS-CF as a matter of tuning instead of a hardware gamble.

If carbon nylon is your ceiling, the K2 Plus is a monster: 350 mm cube, Klipper, and a 120°C bed give you room to grow. If you think PPS or other true high-temp materials are in your future, the Plus5's extra 20°C and hotter chamber are the difference between buying a printer and buying a second one later.

The Day-to-Day Stuff

Both chambers need a soak before nylon — we preheat to 55–60°C and let it sit fifteen minutes before the first layer. Both print PA-CF clean around 290–300°C nozzle with a 100–110°C bed on textured PEI. Both want dry filament, period. Wet nylon strings and pits no matter which machine runs it.

The differences show up in workflow. The K2's CFS is the better multi-spool system if you run a lot of materials. The Plus5 Combo trades that capacity for the higher temperature ceiling. Neither is a wrong answer — they're answers to different questions.
